Choosing the best marketing strategies for your online business is critical to ensure that you don’t waste time and money on strategies that won’t bring results. There are many ways to promote your business on the web, and not many of them will be suitable for your business. In fact, some could lead to total failure of your online strategy if they don’t fit well with your target audience

Here is a list of the best marketing strategies to implement online:

Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Strategy

An SEM strategy includes pay per click (PPC) advertising and search engine optimisation (SEO). These two channels are effective at sending high volumes of traffic from qualified searchers who are interested in your products or services.
However, one of their main differences is that SEO traffic is free and PPC traffic is paid. So, the implementation, management and reporting differ and your goals for each channel will differ too.
SEO for example is mainly about getting your site to the top of the natural search engine results pages (SERPs), whereas PPC is focused on building campaigns with ads and keywords that are closely related to the searches that people do on search engines and lead to clicks.

Paid Ads Example

Twitter Strategy

You can empower your twitter strategy by utilising tools that automate many processes. Hootsuite is an example of such a tool and it has built-in features that allow you to tweet easily, schedule your posts, respond to messages and connect with your followers.
You can add multiple accounts in one dashboard and from here you can automate the processes listed above for all your accounts.
Twitter is mainly about growing your followers and engaging with them to meet their needs and therefore achieve your business goals. So your twitter strategy should be about providing quality content that is targeted at the needs of your followers.

Email Marketing Strategy

Email marketing should be at the centre of your customer retention goals. It is one of the best marketing strategies for engaging with people who’ve shown interest in your business and when people sign-up, they believe that you can meet their needs and that your offers and messages are in line with their goals.
Building an email list is easy and there are very affordable and free tools like Mailchimp that help you to build your lists and run campaigns. You can automate many processes with features like autoresponders to save you time and overall it is an effective retention tool.

Remarketing Strategy

Remarketing is now a key part of an online marketing strategy for businesses of all kinds in retail, ecommerce, services, B2B and others. Its power is in the ability to create a relationship with target audiences that have shown interest in particular products or services.
The main aim with remarketing is to bring people back to your site to complete actions that are important to your business like purchase, signup, register, download, request and so on.

Remarketing Retargeting
For online retailers that have datafeeds, dynamic remarketing is a more advanced feature that allows them to remind visitors that have shown interest in specific products through banner ads that are displayed on sites that they visit.
However, remarketing should not be abused and it’s important to add an impression cap so that you minimise the number of times people you are targeting see the same ad or all your ads.
