Google Ads for Car Charger Installers: How To Setup An Exceptional Campaign
Google Ads is one of the best ways for car charger installers to promote their services and provides. It provides all the tools to precisely target individuals and businesses that are looking to install electric car charges on their properties.
Many electric car charger installers are using Google Ads advertising in different locations and they are seeing great results, with conversion rates over 10% now common.
So, if you’re looking to get started with Google Ads or haven’t started correctly and seen poor results, I’ll take you through some important things you need to do to get started.
Campaign objective
There are many objectives to pick from in Google Ads but not all will be relevant for your business. And that’s true for many other electric car charger installers too. The most relevant objective will be the ‘Leads’ objective because it will focus on getting leads and enquiries for your business.
All the features and controls will then be tailored to getting you as many leads and enquiries for your business. And you’ll be able to update these as you see fit.
Campaign type
After choosing the campaign objective above, you’ll now have the option to select the right campaign type to help you achieve your goals. There are different campaign types as you can see in the screenshot below for a Leads objective and you should pick the right one.
The one that will align most effectively for an electric car charging business is a Search campaign. This one helps you to focus on targeting people who are searching for your business on Google with particular keywords that you’ve chosen. We will come to keyword selection in the section below on Keywords.
Budget
Set an advertising budget to help you advertise your car charging company effectively. A good budget to start with is at least £400 or $600 in the first month or two, and then you should consider increasing it as performance improves.
If you set your budget at $600 for example and you run your ads on all days, then your daily budget will be about $20 per day. That is $600 divided by the average number of days in a month, 30.4 and is about $20 per day.
Bidding
When you’re launching a new campaign, it’s best to start by focusing on a bid strategy that will help you get as many clicks as possible for your budget. The Maximise Clicks bid strategy will help you to do that. It’s an automated bid strategy and one of the strategies that are available to a Search campaign.
With time you can change to a Conversion-focused bid strategy, when you’ve had a decent amount of traffic and conversions. The system will suggest a target cost per action and you can apply this with a Maximise Conversions bid strategy or change to one that is most relevant for your business.
Keywords
Because you’ll be running a Search campaign to promote your car charging installation services, you’ll need to find keywords to add to your campaign and bid on. So, you’ll need to do keyword research to find those keywords and add them into ad groups according to similar themes.
So, you’ll need to use the Keyword Planner tool to carry out this research. You’ll find the tool under Tools & Settings, but you can also use the one included in your Ad group and can search with a web page URL or add the product or service you want to promote.
Text Ads
Write compelling ads to promote your car charger installation services. That should include writing good headlines and descriptions that have your key benefits and features in there. Also, include a good call to action like how you would like people to get in touch. And make sure you include it in the headlines.
And add your primary keywords in your headlines. People are more likely to click through to your site if they see that the keyword they searched with is in the ad.
Ad schedule
With the Ad schedule feature you will state when you want your ads to appear to people who are searching on Google. The default Ad schedule feature is for you to run your ads at all times.
But you can change that to whatever you like – that is most relevant for your business. So, you can choose specific days and hours to advertise on. For an electric charger installer it’s usually best to run ads at all times and then when you see your Time reports, you can adjust to the best times for your business.
